September 25, 2025

This has been a busy week for all our staff and students. Classes are in full swing, and athletics such as football, volleyball, golf, and cross country have all been taking place after school. The Fine Arts Academy has also announced its productions for the year. Read below to learn more about all the amazing things going on at Chestermere High School.

Fine Arts Academy

  • The Fine Arts Academy is excited to announce the 2025 Winter Production! The Performing Arts class has selected S.E. Hinton’s novel adaptation of The Outsiders as their show.  The play has officially been cast, and students are busy preparing for their December debut. The Outsiders will premiere on Friday, December 12th at 7:00 P.M., continuing on Saturday, December 13th with a 3:00 P.M. matinee and a 7:00 P.M. finale. Also, get ready to snap along with the theme song of the Fine Arts Academy's upcoming musical production, “The Addams Family”! Coming this spring - things are about to get spooky around here!

Athletics

  • Congratulations to Aliyah, who placed 6th at provincials this week. Aliyah has won the RVS Divisional Championship four years in a row and the South-Central Zone Championship three years in a row. Aliyah will be honoured with a framed picture to be hung in the hallways of Chestermere High School. Excellent work by one of Chestermere High School's all-time elite athletes.

  • This week, the Girls and Boys Varsity Volleyball Teams both won their respective games in straight sets against the Horseshoe Crossing High School teams. Great work, Lakers! Both teams play the Springbank Phoenix in our Wilson Gym on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 5:30 P.M. and 7:30 P.M.

  • Finally, Friday Night Lights is this Friday, September 26, 2025, at 7:30 P.M. for kickoff. All parents and students are welcome to attend, but are reminded that this is a school event and all school rules still apply. No alcohol, cannabis, or inappropriate behaviours. Come cheer on our Laker Football Team, but keep the environment safe, positive, and respectful. There will be a bottle drive fundraiser at the front gate. If possible, please bring one or two donations. Additionally, there will be no access to the school except for the NW washrooms, which will be open to spectators.

  • We also have five cross-country runners competing at the South Central Zone Championships on October 1, 2025. Good luck to all our athletes.

Orange Shirt Day

  • Orange Shirt Day is tomorrow. All staff and students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt. Our leadership and culinary students have created a Truth and Reconciliation Exhibit and Indigenous food items in the North Kiosk.

Talent Show

  • Our Leadership students are organizing a Talent Show scheduled for later in the semester. Listen for the announcements for information on auditions.

Videotaping at School

  • Students are reminded that schools are not public places. Students are not permitted to take pictures, videos of other students at school. If students are in a situation where a conflict may occur, the appropriate action is to inform a staff member so they can prevent the conflict, rather than videotaping the altercation. Providing a safe space for students to work through conflict is the best strategy for maintaining a safe and caring learning environment. Students involved in a conflict or videotaping others may face disciplinary consequences.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

  • Our first Parent-Teacher Interviews (PTIs) are scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. The booking software, Conference Manager, will open to parents/guardians on Thursday, October 6, 2025. Parents are welcome to check out our teachers' classroom libraries.
